Their empire culminates at their private club, The Stone House, a haven of illicit deals and dangerous secrets.

But a murder reveals a new game, one where they are no longer the masters of the board, and the only winning move is betrayal.

The Plot

King Magnus is dead and the Vikings aren’t mourning, they’re celebrating! Tonight his son Erik will be crowned and wed to his betrothed Astrid before the mead runs dry.

Most of the hall is roaring approval – but a few are muttering that the old king’s exit was suspiciously tidy.

Long-suffering sister, Frida, has watched her brother claim the ships, the glory, and now the crown – and her patience is wearing thinner than last winter’s boots.

Astrid The Fair, only wants to do right by her new people, though the scheming of the hall may prove rougher than she expects.

And then there’s the strange goat keeper who’s wandered in from nowhere, reeking of mystery and livestock, with far too much interest in royal affairs.

As vows and poorly timed toasts collide, only Helga The Law Speaker can stop this band of Vikings turning a coronation into a full-blown shield-wall brawl and, before the night is out, another Viking will enter Valhalla….
